The Lightening Thief
Author - Rock Riordan
Grade/Level - 3-4
Are you a half-blood? Percy Jackson thinks he lead a perfectly normal life, besides the fact that he's dyslexic and had
ADHD, but the day of the field trip everything changes. When being talked to by a teacher for supposedly pushing a fellow classmate into the water, the teacher turns into a monster! After he recovered that mess, he was told by his best friend, who just revealed that he was part goat, that monsters are after him. With the unfortunate fate of his mother, he rushed of to Camp Half-Blood, were he figures out he is son of Poseidon, Greek God of the Sea. Now accused of stealing Zeus's lightning bolt, he goes on a quest to prove he is no thief, but first he needs help. He asks the Oracle, a mysterious spirit. The spirit says:
"You shall go west, and face the god who has turned. You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned. You shall be betrayed by the one who calls you friend. And you shall fail to save what matters most in the end."
What does this mean? Does it come true? Read the amazing fantasy book, The Lightning Thief to find out.
I like the action parts of the book. I think the author described them very well. I don't think there was anything
wrong with this book. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give this book a ten. I would recommend this book to anyone who
likes mythology, Harry Potter fans, and anyone who likes a well written, descriptive, and adventurous book.
So the next time you want a good series to read, Percy Jackson is your guy.
