peak
Author - Roland Smith
Grade/Reading Level - 6 and up
As the peak comes into view,
it will take a hold of you.
But you must see the way,
that you came to this day.
All the people that helped you out,
will make you feel more stout.
Because Mt. Everest
is for the very best.

PEAK was exciting,
But also kind of frightening.
We liked the book,
Even though Peak was a crook.
It had a satisfying ending,
But Peak's last Moleskin was still pending.
We wish there was a sequel,
And that its quality would be equal.
We enjoyed the story,
Even when it got kind of gory.
The book was nice,
And there was a lot of ice.
The book was great,
So we would like to rate,
This book about how to survive,
4 out of 5!

A Journey of a lifetime
(Based on the novel, Peak)
By Nina Smetana
Peak left his family to go climb Everest,
so he might become the best --
And be the youngest person up so high,
where even a helicopter couldn't fly.
His father took him in but still,
when Peak was with him, he was a real pill.
Peak climbed a lot, and made a friend,
but they competed to the end.
When the night was cold on the mountain top,
Peak realized, this had to stop!
Peak said, "This isn't worth all this time.
Family means much more than this silly climb!"
I know Peak figured out what was right,
even if he figured it out at THAT height!
So then Peak left the twists and bends,
to be with his family and friends.

Peak found his father in this change of events.
Climbing the mountain with icepicks and ropes,
making his way to the very high slopes.
Changing his mind at the last mound of snow,
Saving the victory for his friend, Sun-Jo.
Peak broke the record of kindness forever and ever.
